Who signed NVM's of III./JG 54 Autumn 1942?
Hi, guys.
This is really a follow-up of a thread started long ago, but there is no use in posting this question at the end of that thread on page 60-something! Has anyone got access to Namentliche Verlustemeldungen for III./JG 54 for the September - October period 1942?? Who signed those? Regards, Andreas |

I have the NVM of Ofw. Wilhelm Schilling of 16.9.1942 (Bf 109G-2, WNr. 104363) which was signed by Hptm. Seiler.

Ok, Ruy, point taken.
Regarding the NVM's, could You guys please try to find the filing dates on them? (usually they are signed with Gefechtsstand, some date, and then the name of the person signing them.) It seems they were written very late, a plausable reason for the discrepancies in pilot vs aircraft etc we have seen. Regards, Andreas |

Re: Who signed NVM's of III./JG 54 Autumn 1942?
The NVM of Ofw. Schilling of 16/9 was signed by Hptm. Seiler on 20/9. So nothing strange there. However, I have seen copies of NVM of III./JG 54 circulating which have a strange aspect......the left hand side of the A3 copy doesn't belong to the right hand side....!!! So be carefull if you obtain copies of NVM's of III./JG 54. Always compare name of pilot with name of relatives...
Cheers, John. |

Re: Who signed NVM's of III./JG 54 Autumn 1942?
Andreas,
most III./JG 54s NVM for the summer/fall 1942 period are damaged by fire, especially on the lower part of the form, where you find the signature and the date. Looking at the undamaged reports you will see, that these were filed within a few days after the loss happened and that Hptm Seiler usually signed. So IMHO no stange things about them: Loss_______ Pilot __________Report filed____ Signed by 09.08.1942__ Ostermann________ not readable_____Seiler 11.08.1942__ Feise ____________15.08.1942______ Hptm Augenstein (?) 03.09.1942__ Langwenings_____ 10.09.1942_______ Seiler 05.09.1942__ Schubert - Reimann 10.09.1942______ Seiler 07.09.1942__ Hayder - Schnautz_ 10.09.1942______ Seiler 16.09.1942__ Schilling_________ 20.09.1942______ Seiler HTH Carl

Re: Who signed NVM's of III./JG 54 Autumn 1942?
I might be mistaken, but I believe "undamaged" NVM's of III./JG 54 are at BA/MA Freiburg. I am quite certain to have seen a whole lot of 1942-1943 NVM's there. Actually I copied several of them. For several of these NVM's I also have "burned" versions. My remark above on the NVM's of III./54 is only applicable on NVM's of Feb. 10, 1944 I have. Apparantly these were not copied correctly by the WASt. The other NVM's of III./JG 54 I have are just fine. I can only concur with Carl, nothing strange at all.

Hi
The strange events did then not appear on unit level. What I find interesting is that it took so long for these losses to appear in the GQM reports. For some of them several months. In this case I find we should definitely crosscheck the GQM reports and the NVM's to get things right. Andreas |
