Re: Identity of Well Known Photo

If I´m not wrong it comes from a Messerschmitt callendar and was "in color" or at last I remember seeing this image in color too.

Re: Identity of Well Known Photo

Chris,

I have seen it on "Les Chasseurs de Nuit, 1939-1945" from Edition Atlas/Mach 1, by Mister Kit. It was said to be from "Jagdkommando Herrmann" (or possibly from the machines previously owned by dayfighter Squadron which was loaned to JKdo Herrmann)...as far as my memory do remember (book not at hand now, lunch time, away from home).

Adriano

Re: Identity of Well Known Photo

Reference is made to Dr. Alfred Price book entitled Battle over the Reich, Volume One, 1939 - 1943, page 113. The caption related to this photo reads: "...This photograph with the aircraft carrying spurious markings, is in fact a posed propaganda scene to impress the German public, and was used on the Messerschmitt company 1943 calendar."

The spurious emblem showing the anthropomorphic Moon (i.e., with a human face) and apparently three stars, all in yellow, is also presented in the book.

Regards,
Sinisa
