Oblt Willi Grigat

Hello

before serving in 2/KG26, Oberleutnant Willi Grigat (shot down and taken POW in december 1944) was, it seems, serving in III/KG77. can someone confirm it and tell me in which Staffel.

Thanks in advance

Claude

Hello Chris,

in a precedent message, you tell me Leutnant Albert Lutz was Staffelführer of 8/KG26 during summer 1944 ; how could he have under his orders an officer senior to him ? In his book, Bodo Diemer (who at the time was in the 8/KG77) speaks of Grigat at the date of 6th july 1944 calling him "Oberleutnant Grigat" and speaking of Lutz says Leutnant.

Hello.

Not unusual at all.

Senior in rank not necessarily senior in experience. And a Staffelführer is not a appointed Staffelkapitän.

Regards,
