Exclamation P-38 Lightning lost August 2 1944 near Berg Belgium

Hi ,

On August 2 1944 Flak from airfield Melsbroek in Belgium shot down a P-38 Lightning who crashed near Berg north of Melsbroek. Anyone an idea of the identity of this aircraft ?

Regards

Must be P-38J 42-104397 of 479th FG, 436th FS. Pilot Fred A. Moser Jr., POW. Check MACR 7738. Groet, Leendert

If the P-38 was shot down by Flak from Melsbroek it must be the small town of Perk some 3 km north of the airfield and west of Kampenhout.
Kind regards/groetjes,

Dirk

Or perhaps it could be the hamlet of Berg just to the southwest of Kampenhout.
This could make more sense with the luftwaffe report in mind.
Groetjes,

Dirk
