Hello Marc,

Thank you!.. Incredible what we can do when feeling pressure free!!

#4, 5, 6. Gelbe 13, 6./JG 51:
Reminds me another JG51 "Gelbe 13" colour picture, dated April 1944. I'm not telling it's the same plane (some differences in camouflage application) but obviously same production plant, same year and exactly same number style.

Cheers, Franck.

#3 is like Reinhard Heydrich's plane, chevron S (the Jungvolk Rune)
http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=5666
But Schirmbock got also this combination:

Yes David,

You can see that the "Jungvolk Rune" is "vertical on this JG3 machine when it's inclinated on Schirmbock's plane... What surprised me is the camouflage which, in this case is quite close of a JG54 machine...

Franck.

Hi Franck,

Great selection thanks for being our detective, perhaps the 'Poirot' of the Bf109 world!

Number 7 had me stumped (English cricket idiom-when the ball hits the three upright 'sticks' or stumps the batsman is 'out' or stumped). I already have this emblem and it can be found in a number of publications with a variety of different identifications. At first I thought JG52 but the emblem is far too small. In photoshop enhancement a white border is just about recognisable. I believe it to be 2./JG51 who, from looking at a number of other photos, not only did not have their own staffel emblem but did not seem to carry the Geschwader Falcon emblem on the nose either, preferring the Gruppe insignia under the cockpit instead. What are your thoughts please? Perhaps you have a different camouflage lead angle?

Could I play the English Sherlock Holmes next to the Belgian Poirot?

Chris

Hello Chris,

At last somebody to ask about that one and to play with me! But don't ask a french to be -even to play- a belgium!

Frankly I have no idea concerning that one and I got more than a thousand pictures to classify... For whatever reasons...
I think, but just a feeling, I've seen it, nothing sure. Let me check, who knows...

Argh! http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=4260

Good job Sherlock! Being Watson will be enough for me, then!

Cheers, Franck.

Bingo or Bulls-eye! I should have investigated the 'oracle of all things Bf109': David's site!

Drat, if you're Watson to my Sherlock Holmes, does that mean I'm Captain Hastings to your Poirot??

Cheers

Chris
