any info on a NAA-57 of JG107 lost 12-4-44

Hello

Can any one help with info on this aircraft:

NAA-57 France 152 57 - 1404 NAG 102 20%damage crashlanding 13Apr.1943 Brieg, went to JG 107 100%damage shot down 12Apr.1944 near Nancy.

I belive it was lost to a 418 Sqn Mosquito, in E.Mombeeks book Luftwaffe a Pictorial History page 151, there is an account of a JG107 NAA-57 that was shot down by a Mosquito who's pilot was called Kruger. Could this be the same aircraft as the one above ? can any one confirm this ?

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Have you found out more about this since?
Accounts of NAA-57s being shot down are very rare.

Hi:

Aircraft not claimed by 418 Squadron from their records. There is an unidentified destroyed aircraft by 418 on April 12, 1944 by Miller/Miller flying NS830 north of Kohlberg A/F. However, I see no pilot with the last name Kruger ever making a claim with 418.

All other aircraft claimed by 418 on April 12th, 13th and 14th were all identified as standard German types.

Mark, I think you might possibly have solved this one! The u/e/a claim sounds very likely.
I think David meant that the German pilot was called Kruger
Do you know any other details (time of day) of the 418 sqn claim?

Does anybody know what the German call code for the NAA-57 was?

Hi.

The designation used in the loss records are Na 57. The loss mentioned here for the serial no 152 is noted as seen in this link:

http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=110227

Regards,
Andreas

Thanks Andreas!

Do you happen to have more info on the following two NAA-57 losses as well?

NAA-57 - No.92 - Used by JG 103, 100% damage when it was shot down on 14Jul.1944 at Rambin.

NAA-57 - No.132 -
Used by JG 105, 100% damage when it was shot down on 2Jan.1944 near Guyancourt.

Hi Skyraider et al:

I don't think this was the UEA claim at Kolberg - more likely to have been a claim made by Clarence Jasper southeast of Verdun, which matches up OK with north of Nancy.

Some details in this article:

Cheers,

Mark

Most interesting!
Could Krüger have been doing night flying practise and somehow switched on his landing light?
The carrot shaped fuselage is a good match but the ammo bay is a bit odd. Perhaps a wingmounted fuel tank on fire though?
