Hi Bogdan

A lot of information about these pilots can be found in HATA/IZAWA - JAPANESE NAVAL ACES and FIGHTER UNITS IN WORLD WAR II

and in SAKAIDA - IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVY ACES 1937-45

here 's a short biography of LTJG MATSUO HAGIRI from above sources

Born November 1913 , graduated from flight training August 1935, participated in first A6M ZERO mission in China on 19 August 1940 and later combat in that theatre being credited with 7 victories
Back to Japan , he missed ?the attack on PEARL HARBOR ( no mention at least ) . He fought in the Solomon Islands in 1943 and was injured in air combat on 23 September 1943 and sent back to Japan for recuperation.
Back to service as a test pilot , he flew missions against B-29 raiding Japan . Again injured in combat with B-29 , survived but never flew again.

Credited with 13 victories he died on 15 January 1997
