B-17 Crash St Pölten 8 Dec 44
Has anyone details on this crash 15 km west on St Pölten, Austria on the above date?

There is no B-17 listed that day as lost over Europe. Neither in the MACR day-by-day files nor in the day-by-day catalogue of the Luftgaukommando files. Ther are two Mustang listed that day in the general area. One P-51, AAF/sn 44-18311, 31st FG at 12:45hrs near Ditmannsdorf and the other P-51D-5-NA at 13:10hrs at Innsbruck, 1.1/2 km East of Gootzens. Hope this helps. Horst Weber |

Oops and pardon !
The 31st P-51 has AAF-s/n 44-13311. The other P-51, a ship of 52nd Fg has the AAF-s/n 44-13298. Best regards ! Horst Weber |
