Operation Substance 1941 which luftwaffe dive bombers
hi.
Im a ship modeller and making a diorama of 24th July 1000am 1941 german Dive bomber attack on MV Sydney Star, HMAS Nestor and HMS Hermione . These were stragglers after Sydney star torpedoed overnight by Italian MAS Boats. The dive bombing occured between pantellaria and malta by a flight of ju87 of which 1 was shot down and further splinter damage to sydney star. just wondering which german ju87 unit it could be and where based out of: by July most units seem to be in the Iraklion, Maleme on Crete, or Derna, none of which seem particularly close to malta for single engine ju87. Anyone have any further info/thoughts cheers dan |
