Third and final plea,
Interesting research I think for this one. Pic attached. Anything on his service, or aircraft would be good. Thanks. P/O John Watson who was the Observer on a special RAF ferry flight from Malta carrying as a passenger Air Marshal O.T. Boyd CB, OBE, MC, AFC. The aircraft crashed in Sicily, all crew were taken prisoner.

Danny,
You've got it backwards. Aircraft was on its way TO Malta when it was force-landed in Sicily. Wellington T2873 from No. 214 Sqn, ME Flight. 85693 John Cherry Watson. Ended up at Stalag Luft III. Last rank appears to be F/O. Watson born Yorkshire 1916, deceased 1996. Regards, Dave |
