Unknown twin engine

I found this image on a 389th BG site in an image collection. I do not recognize this twin engine US tricycle gear aircraft. The closest I can come is an XB-28 but the tail is different (Only 2 were built).

There are many other photos from the war so I suspect this must be 1945. Also, there is another image of what appears to be this aircraft with JATO like streams from the side of the fuselage at a takeoff angle.

Does anyone know what aircraft this might be?

Tony
