Update
Dear all,
Unless something significant changes I’ll keep the forum running as is for at least the end of this year.
With significant I mean:
1. Major increase in cost
2. Provider will end legacy support
3. We have upgraded the forum
4. Other, like migration elsewhere
So now it is a matter of finding an upgrade path before the end of the year.
Last week I was too busy with work related stuff, including the weekends, but I’ll have more time in the upcoming period.
Current direction of thought
1. Verify upgrade path
2. Get license for upgrade
3. Test upgrade
4. Upgrade
Keeping in mind that the latest version of vBulletin is supposedly capable of directly upgrading the dbase to the latest version. However we are running PHP 5.3 on extended support, whereas the current version is 8.4 (recommended 8.3). The provider has tools for the PHP upgrade itself (it is just config). What matters is how to upgrade vBulletin and its dbase.
Last but not least there might be some non standard components that will not play nice during an upgrade.
So long story short I will need some help from someone with a bit more experience with dbase migrations, and ideally vBulletin updates.
PS - the legacy support for PHP 5.3 might not last until the end of the year, as it is the oldest listed version.
