S/L Edward Rowland Thorn, DFC*, DFM* accident
Good night to all!
On the 12th ( or 14th depend on the source ) February 1946, S/L Thorn, DFC, DFM a former Defiant ace from 264 Squadron was killed in a flying accident. I tried to find if it was on a BOMBER Command machine but it seems NO. Could someone give me more details of the accident ( type of accident ) and machine he was flying on the day he passed away? ( serial number and codes would be welcomed too ). Yours Adriano Baumgartner |

Adriano,
Interestingly, Edward Roland Thorn is also mentioned on the CWGC website. He's buried at the Bishop's Waltham (St. Peter) Churchyard. Regards, Leendert |

Thanks Leendert,
I´ve checked there before posting my thread here. Then I tried to find if he was flying a Bomber Command machine, but got no joy. So, I thought it could be a night-fighter ( Fighter Command ) aircraft ( maybe a NF 36 Mosquito )...thankfully Henk helped me to match the loss and cause of accident. But thanks a lot Leendert! Am very grateful to those who answered and helped! Yours Adriano |
