German bomber loss , 12/13 June 1944
Hello folks ,
A French gendarmerie report states about that crash at 2 am at Rouville ( near Bolbec ) Normandy . No casualties but the bomber went down with its bomb load , and strangely it was described as a three engined plane . Could anyone identify this one , could it be a He 177 ? Laurent. |

Laurent: An accurate ac type might help but there were so many losses without accurate locations at that time. There were 2 He 177 losses that night but no locations given

Thanks Chris , I know the problem with such losses and crash location . There are many open files on that subject.

Possibly P/O Kearney's victim? He got his He 177 approx. 0130 near Charlie (I do not know where it is) area. The aircraft got ablazed and violently exploded. Cheers |

Forgot about this one. All the crew from this ac baled out unwounded hence no loss report. It was from II/KG 40 but I have no crash location

Charly is half way from Paris to Lille so a bit far from Normandy

I think it is reference to Charlie sector or square rather than particular village in France.
