AIR ENTHUSIAST - article - Spitfires Burma
A few years ago AIR ENTHUSIAST quarterly had an article describing the last air-to-air combat by a Spitfire.
It was by the air force of Burma, in the 1950s, using an ex-Israeli Spitfire IX. The target was a PB4Y-2 flown by the Chinese Nationalists, overflying Burmese territory to resupply KMT groups in the north. Can anyone provide a reference to this article (title, author, issue) or, better yet, a copy? thanks, David Isby |

That sounds suspiciously like the Noel Peters incident with Seafury UB466.
The Spitfire connection may be the use of the back end of a Mk IX Spitfire in the diorama of the incident in the Defence Services Museum in Rangoon. PeterA |

Burmese Lions: British Fighter Exports to Burma by Peter R Arnold and Ken Ellis (1 col profile); Issue 72, November/December 1997 Feedback & comments Index (searchable) http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/mags/uk/air_enthusiast.htm Article seems to be more about BurmeseAF Sea Fury incident, rather than Spitfires.
