Attempting to locate photos of 9./KG51 He111H FL in France on 15.5.40
Hello,
I'm attempting to locate photos of this force-landed He111H forced down by Hurricanes near Vitry-le-Francois, France, on 15.5.40. This may possibly be coded 9K+AT. "May 15, 1940: 9./KG51 Heinkel He111H. Forced-landed on one engine, badly damaged by No. 85 Squadron Hurricanes north of Vitry-le-Francois a.m. Possibly that claimed by Sgt Allard. Gefr K. Landmann killed. Hptmn FNU Brandt (Staffelkapitän) and rest of crew believed unhurt. Aircraft a write-off." Can anyone help? Regards, |

Balazs,
Thanx for your prompt response. I do have the photo you posted. It shows 9K+AR of 7./KG51 at the time of the Polish Campaign, so it pre-dates the 9 Staffel a/c I'm looking for by eight months. However, I was planning to use this 7 Staffel photo as the basis for one of the EoE color profiles. Regards, |

Hi Larry,
unfortunately no photo but it is not 9K+AT. This aircraft was damaged the day before. Hptm Brand Willi was unhurt and Gefr. Landmann Karl the Bs was killed. Regards, Norbert |

Larry,
From all descriptions and/or missing data I suspect this aircraft forced-landed in Germany. So less likely to find pictures I'm afraid. Regards, Pieter |
