Uffz. Hermann Melzer, 10.05.1941
Uffz. Hermann Melzer, born: 20.01.1920 at Trebicho. Died 10.05.1941 at Admannshagen/Rostock. Can anyone confirm if he belonged to 8/JG26, and how he died, as I have no aircraft loss for 8/JG26 on this date.
My source is the Kriegsgräberfursorge. |
Re: Uffz. Hermann Melzer, 10.05.1941
From J.G.26 by Josef Priller, Uffz. Hermann Melzer definitely belonged to 8/JG26 and was killed in an accident. But the book still doesn't say how he died.

Re: Uffz. Hermann Melzer, 10.05.1941
Thank you Chris. I don't know why this loss is not recorded in the Luftwaffe Loss Returns. Do you know the Werk.nr of this Bf109F-2?

Probably not recorded because it was a transfer flight. No Wk Nr I'm afraid

It was listed in the Gen.Qu.6.Abt. losses, but with no detail other than what Chris already reported. Probably because it was listed for the Arado-Werke.
