Stab I./KG 76 Hptm von Sichartshoff
A question for the experts among you:
Do we know more concerning the whatabouts of the death of Hptm Robert Sichart von Sichartshoff on the 2nd day of "Barbarossa" after suffering from an engine failure of his Ju 88(?) over the Soviet union? Was he Kommandeur of I./KG 76? Thanks in advance RolandF |

GQM loss return 25 June 1941 item 60: 23.6. 1./KG 76 Feindflug, Ort: Kowno-Dünaburg, Ursache: unbekannt (letzter Funkspruch 22.40 Uhr: Motorschaden), Ju 88 A-5 6265 F1+BB, 100%. F Hptm Robert von Sichart (Gruppenkommandeur) vermisst B Ofw Hans Larson vermisst Bf Stfw Max Bleesen vermisst Bs Ofw Helmut Hanisch vermisst. 1st correction 1 July 1941: Ofw Larson zurück, Ofw Hanisch gefallen. 2nd correction 4 Oct 1941: Hptm von Sichart, Stfw Bleesen ermordet aufgefunden. the 2nd correction is 3 months after his missing. Were he and his gunner killed in a POW camp or a NKWD prison?

He was buried 6. september 1941, and moved to Heldenfriedhof Kauen 15. october 1941.
