Nickeling Raids

Hi Guys.
Do any of you know the term "Nickeling" ops that were used in Italy
and what it meant.
It looks like 2 choices ie
1.Leaflet raids
2.Dropping bombs on the Axis Forces during the night to keep them awake and harrased.

Leaflets as far as I know. The same word was used in NW Europe, so it seems to have been standard RAF terminology.
