D-Day claim for a Ju 88 from 3.(F)/123

Good morning.

The Ju 88 (probably a D version) flown by Uffz Karl Huber from 3.(F)/123 was apparently claimed by a P-47 Thunderbolt and crashed near Languidic, near Landevant.

I have checked the US credits for destruction of enemy aircrafts, here (https://www.dafhistory.af.mil/Portal...090601-121.pdf) and got no joy in cross-checking who (pilot) or which unit (Squadron) did claim a Ju 88 on the 6th June 1944.

Most of the claims I found were for Bf 10 Fw 190, Ju 87 (probably on the ground at Janville), etc.

Any clues to WHO claimed the 3.(F)/123 machine flown by Uffz Karl Huber ?

Fg Off J F Green and Flt Sgt L D Stoddart of 248 Sqn claimed a He 177/ Ju 188 south of the Lizard 2203hrs believed to be that flown by Uffz Alex Wolf of 3./123. Huber and his crew are recorded as crashing at Rennes/Lorient but 165 Sqn got a Ju 88 near Baud 2 miles SE Landevant so this looks to be who got Huber at 2055 hrs

Thanks very much Chris for the information about 165 Squadron. I was really astonished about that P-47 information.
All the best for you and yours

Both the P-47 and the Spitfire had elliptical wings, which is why they were confused
