Pilot Officer W.C. De Shane, March 9, 1942 any info ?

Hi
Found some info on a website, and it's puzzling me.....

Pilot Officer W.C. De Shane, 20, was killed in action over Norfolk County, England, on March 9, 1942,...
( he )......... was one of the few Canadians piloting a twin-motored Whirlwind fighter plane.

I have searched my stuff but can't find any info, unless I have missed it.
presumably he was with 137Sq,
but can't find anything on that date on the the CWWG search either

Anyone any info ?
Cheers
Jerry

Hi
Many thanks for the info, I never thought of trying a search that way.
Sometimes I wish there was a 'sounds like' search function on the CWWG site.
cheers

There is, sort of.

Using the drop down menus narrow the search down as much as possble first. And then in the Surname search, just enter the first few letters of the name. It can be long and laborious to go through them all but you can refine the search by clicking on the "Date of death" at the top of the results.
