From photos it looks like the same size silhouette is on both sides of the cowling. The pilot's side silhouette would be fine, a good size for aiding formation flying, but why have it on the other, outer side? It doesn't make sense to have it also on the opposite side for formation flying because the pilot couldn't see it, so I think the silhouette must have another, as yet, unknown purpose
