On the night of 16/17 March, 1945, he was shot down in his G-6 by a NF Mosquito XXX, piloted by F/Lt and Night Fighter Ace, Dennis Hughes of RAF No 239 Sq.. Suffered slight injuries from a hard landing deploying his chute too early. Nos 47 & 48 a B-17 and a Lancaster at Danzig on 14 February, 1945. Nos. 49 to 51, 2 Lanc's & a Halifax near Ansbach, 3/16/45. British POW, released 15 October, 1945. Postwar residence: Bremen.
