Re: Beaufighter colouring/markings
There is a 1944 photo in Fighter Squadrons of the RAF, by John Rawlings. The photo shows standard RAF NF colours and markings of the period. The book lists several serials, some with codes, but does not tie them to ears. The aircraft in the photo is a veteran V8388, coded Y aft of the roundel, but the code in front of the roundel does not look like 600's BQ, looking more like a 6. Perhaps this was some local coding?
