Would someone be so kind to check if the following info is correct.
Uffz Barthel Afred KIA january 1943 over the Channel , shot down by Spits from 340 Sqdn, washed up in may 1943 at Cuxhaven ?

Hello,

According to Don Caldwell´s JG 26 War Diary, Volume 2, Fw. Alfred Barthel of 5./JG 26 (Fw 190A-4 WNr. 2460, black 5) was shot down and killed over the Channel on 20 January 1943). He was almost certainly downed by S/Lt R.G. Gouby of 340 (Free French) Squadron who claimed 2-1-0 Fw 190s south of Beachy Head approximately between 1245 - 1300 hours.
