AT-6 in the ETO
Two American airmen are buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery with date of death 17-9-1944:
David E. CRUICKSHANK and William R. TAYLOR, both of 55th FS, 20th FG. It's known that Cruickshank was killed on AT-6D 42-84591 at Walsham near Coltishall in Norfolk. In the History of the 20th FG is mentioned that both airmen were killed in a mid-air collision. Were both flying on 42-84591 and which aircraft was also involved in this mid-air collision, or were they both single occupants of an AT-6 ? Regards and thanks for your help. Henk. |
