Re: Fi 156 shot down over Warsaw in 1939

Forced down by friendly fire. I have two photos of this aircraft and it was in very good shape (probably only a few bullet holes in the cockpit area).

Regards

Robert

Re: Fi 156 shot down over Warsaw in 1939

The point is, that pilot was killed by Poles (land fire from Okęcie) during escape from the wrack. Inside was killed Maj Georg Spielvogl commander of II(Sch)/ LG 2.

According German plane was shot down by own fire with latter "land support" by Poles, which had killed the pilot.

Fi 156 had damage less 60 %, taken from the field on 24.09. The A/A fire hit the cabine and forcing down the plane.

Now it is still mostly impossible to find out who in fact shot down this Fi 156: German or Poles or it was "cooperative victory"?

regards,
mw
