Red face Most People Rescued In A Single Sortie

Gentlemen,

A single Seenotdienst Do-24 flyingboat had rescued in one sortie 99 children and fourteen adults from a Soviet advance into Koszalin during the Battle of Kolberg on March of 1945. The load was very heavy. It couldn't fly but it wave-hopped and taxed back to base! That had to be a world record of most people rescued by a flyingboat in one sortie. I wondered what the crew's names were especially the pilot? Any thoughts?

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

For those who have (some) German among their language skills: also see http://www.zeit.de/gesellschaft/zeit...bsturz/seite-2

Apparently the Do-24 was shot at by Russian tanks from the shore. Most of those killed were children, with a number estimate between 70 and 80.

Regards,

Leendert

There as a previous thread on this, search under 'Do 24 Kamp' and there is a thread by kaki3152 dated 16-2-12 called ' Lost Do-24 last days of WWII News Story',

I think some Sunderland flying boats picked up some big loads of people but I can't give you the planes record.
