Sgt-Chef Dambrinne of GC II/6

Hello,

I'm looking after some information about the career and mission of
Sgt-Chef Dambrinne of GC II/6 on the 13 of May 1940. He was shot down above Belgium with a MS 406 nr 703 on the 13 of May 1940.
Regards,

Re: Sgt-Chef Dambrinne of GC II/6

Hi Alexander,

This was a mission by 9 Moranes (6 of GC II/6, 3 of GC 6/3, all from Maubeuge) towards the Tienen - St Trond area. Over Namur, while chasing a Hs126 (claimed but not confirmed) they were caught in intense Flak fire. The Ms406 No703 of SgtChef Dambrinne was lost and crashed at an unknown location. No710 was hit and made an emergency landing at the airfield of Challerange, while No932 did the same reportedly around Verdun (although I have some doubt as to the correctness of this location, seems a bit too far off course). One more Morane of GC II/6 was damaged. One of the GC III/3 Moranes crashed at Erquelines. In other words a pretty disastrous mission with 4-5 out of 9 aircraft lost and no visible effect on the enemy.

Regards, Pieter

Hi,

small addition: the involved MS-406 from GCIII/3 was No.373 and flown by Lt.du Chezelles.
Pieter do you have names of the pilots of No.710 and 932?

Regards

Robert

Just a precision : His wife told me that did not crashlanded his plane, but that he bailed out of his Morane.
