Me-262 Unit Identity -April 14,1945

On April 14,1945 the 27FG was attacked by a Me-262 who shot down P-47D 42-27072 over Biblis A/F at 1605 hrs. The Me-262 made a surprise pass and the P-47D caught fire.

Any surmises as to the identity of the Me-262?

Re: Me-262 Unit Identity -April 14,1945

Hello,

On 14 April part of III/JG7 moved from Alt Lönnewitz to Plattling, both in the East of Germany. III/EJG2 was active in the Bamberg area, also relatively far away from Biblis.

I/K51 attached enemy troop movements in the Rastatt aera, about 100km from Biblis. Could it be that it was a KG51 Me 262?

I have the log of a 27thFG P-47 pilot. He didn't fly on 14 April, but on a mission on 22 April he "had a beautiful chance for Me 262 jet job" (text from log book) over Augsburg. Do you have any information about this mission?

Hello,

Bamberg is more or less 160 km East/Northeast of Biblis.
Perhaps III/EJG2 shouldn't be dismissed as a candidate?

16. Fliegerdivision's daily report says 4 Me 262s took off agianst Marauder raids with one P-47 shot down for certain.

I'm guessing they were from JV 44 (I haven't looked it up in the book).

Biblis was where the P-47s took off from, the combat was near Aalen.

The distance between Bamberg and Aalen is about 150 km. III/EJG2 operated against low-flying B-26s in the Bamberg aera. So, it probably was III/EJG2.
