Loss of Leutn. Jacob Keil

Hi,

Could anyone provide information on the umit and theatre of war for Leutn. Jacob Keil. He was killed on 16th April 1944. He was a flugzeugfuhrer and Staffelkapitan in a Schlachtgeschwader. Any information would be useful. Many thanks

Rick

Re: Loss of Leutn. Jacob Keil

Rick,

The volksbund.de website has a record for Lt. Jakob Keil, born at Plattling on 29.05.1923 and date of death/disappearance 15.04.1944.
Location is given as North of Sebastopol (Crimea, Ukraine).

According to mentioned website Keil's body hasn't been recovered, but it is believed that his resting place is in the Sebastopol area.

Regards,

Leendert

Lt Jacob Keil was the recipient of the DKiG with an unidentied Schlacht unit, probably posthumously.

On June 16, 1943 he was wounded and at that time he flew Stuka's with II./St.G. 3.

Cheers,

John
