Info Request: Pilot Hans-Joachim Zantopp

Hello everyone,

Ltn. Hans-Joachim Zantopp of III./KG 100 (Do 217 K2 6N+BD) was shot down near Sicily on 10 August 1943. He survived and was taken prisoner. I'm interested in learning as much as I can about his Luftwaffe career as well as basic biographic information. Is there a source that can provide this?

Thanks

MB

P.S. for those who have been following my research on German glide bombs, I just learned that my book will be published in 2010 by the Naval Institute Press. Thanks to the many people here who have provided valuable assistance.

Sadly, we have no information on him. We had to exclude the Leutnante from our data base as there were too many of them. However, there is high probability that his records can be obtained from BA-MA Freiburg. Be sure and tell them you are an author and give them proof or a web site link where it can be verified. Their reproductions contractor, Selke ( http://www.selke-gmbh.de/ ), will send you a cost quote once you have established exactly what you want and they have the page count. I think you will be looking at perhaps 8 pages of material at about a half-Euro a page. Selke accepts credit cards.

Larry

P.S. Congratulations on your book! Having NIP Annapolis publish your work is a real accolade!
