1939: a plane from 2(H.)/14 shot down
Hello!
I'm looking for some information about Hs-126 5F+GK and its crew. The plane was shot down by AA at Lubien, 45 kms south of Cracow and crashed nearby in Tenczyn, at 2.09.1939 (some Polish sources say it was 3.09). Both crew members were KIA and one them was Uffz. Otto Seyfried. It's said by the local people that one of the crewmen was a nobleman and his father arrived with a private plane to take his son's body to the homeland. I'd be very grafteful to anybody who could inform me or help to establish: 1) what was the name of the other crew member? 2) was Seyfried a pilot or a gunner? 3) what was the task of the crew, where they started from? 4) could the story told by the local people be true? Best regards, Piotr |

Re: 1939: a plane from 2(H.)/14 shot down
Frans A:
It was only said by local people he was nobleman. They knew that only rich could have a private plane. The first connotation was a nobleman, but it must not be true. As I wrote, the plane was a recon from 2.(H)/14. Brian: Thanks a lot for pointing Reinfelder! It was the right way! I've checked his name and found another topic on this forum. After contacting with user Robert, he confirmed that the plane 5F+GK from 2.(H)/14 crashed 2.09.39 with crew Uffz. Otto Seyfired (pilot) and Lt. Johann Reinfelder (observer/gunner) - both KIA. Best regards, Piotr |
