Need a source for authentic radio traffic
I need a source (in print or an expert) who can help me with Luftwaffe (Defense of the Reich) operational radio traffic circa January, 1944. Specifically:
1) Traffic between the radar command center (opera house) and fighter units trying to engage (vectoring towards) 8th Air Force bombers, 2) Pilot chatter between fighter aircraft on patrol, 3) Pilot chatter while engaging bombers, engaging fighters, etc., 4) Landing pattern traffic: landing / take-off chatter with the tower. Are there transcripts of any of this?? I need some AUTHENTIC traffic! Anyone? Thank you again for everyone's assistance. Bronc PS: You see where I'm going with this? Remember how UTTERLY INANE and STUPID the cockpit/combat dialog was in Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor? Did the cockpit dialog in Red-Tails impress anyone? PSS: I also need this for 8th Air Force B-17's on a mission, including a bomb run and escort fighters. |

Re: Need a source for authentic radio traffic
Also, take a look at the various suggestions in the thread about "Using the Y-Service to Research the Luftwaffe" (one of the pinned threads at the top of this page).

I would hazard to say that most people see war movies as nothing but entertainment. I recall watching a war movie where non-German tanks were given German markings, and presented as regular German tanks. Ed |
