Franck, I don't think that the hard-working Warts, or the black men, had the time for joke. My interpretation of the motif would be the third (i.e., as for three Bf109 aircraft linked together) Ergänzungsstaffel (i.e., letter E) of an unknown Jagdgruppe or Jagdgeschwader. Göran referenced the LEMB discussion on the subject already.

The camo pattern maybe a clue? III./JG 52? I believe II./JG 54 also.

Goran: thanks for the picture.
Giampiero: indeed but the link can be done, too, with the three white planes of I./JG21 and II./JG54 too if you chose this way.
Chris: I agree with JG52 but can be a plane coming FROM JG52 and it seems all planes pictured on Goran's photo wear this camo ..
Erg. unit sounds a good suggestion Sidney.

Left "Reims" place indicated by seller ... Not much unit -following Michael Holm site - except Erg.JG26 in Reims-Bétheny in September and part of October

Hence ... Back on Stabskette JG1 since 1.(Eins.)/JG26 became 11./JG1 but in 1942 (no more Bf109Es (?)).
Except for the camo I would say one Staffel of Erg.JG26 can be a strong possibility ...
Of course, it remains unknown until further notice.
