Uffz Helmut Calgeer. 1/4. NJG2, 4/5 Nov. 1944

Anyone have any information on this nightfighter pilot - and especially what claims he might have made on the night of 4/5 Nov. 1944

Calgeer was with 1/NJG 2 and made his first kill that night a bomber between Essen and Wuupertal which Theo Boiten believes was possibly NA546 or 346 Sqn. Cannot see him as a casualty after that date

Matti is right-I missed that. More haste, less speed! No claims between those 2 dates and note he is now recorded as 3/NJG 2?

Thanks, Chris; thanks, Matti.
Now a question for Theo Boiten: MZ409/640Sqdn crashed at Vohwinkel, Wuppertal that night. Could it be that MZ409 was Calgeer's victim and not NA546? Bill Norman

There were quite a number lost in the Dusseldorf-Duisburg-Essen-Wuppertal area that night and my guess is Theo found it impossible to link all the claims with any degree of certainty. All I would say is this claim was between Essen and Wuppertal which is quite imprecise (30 or so km)

Chris, possibly- but there may be some scope for speculation. Does anyone know the times of Calgeer's claimed victories on 4-5 November 1944?
