Fate of long range recon flt 3.(F) 121

Looking for info as into the fate of the flight L2 + ES DO 215 piloted by
Oblt. Kracke Friedrich which departed Romania on 5.8.1941 headed
for recon to Odessa , Olgopel , Aniev which belonged to 3.(F) 121
with a crew 6.

The flight gone missing and no info ever recovered. Did any of the
Soviet fighters or AA claim a DO-215 on the day near Odessa
and further NE ?

Unlike mentioned elsewhere Oblt Kracke did not belong to
KG77 but 3.(F) 121

But this aircraft was from 3(F)/Ob.d.L.
The closest one will be Do-215B T5+BC, which was shot down on 7.8.41 at 17.30 by MIG-3 of 124 IAP PWO in the area of Tula.

Sounds more like 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. Ob.d.L. to me:

Based at Bacău/Romania in July 1941 under IV. Fliegerkorps/Luftflotte 4. Do 215 (L2+AS) failed to return from a recce mission over the Soviet naval base at Sevastopol/Crimea on 23 July, Oblt. Jörg Schultze-Pletzius and
crew listed as missing. On 27 August, the Staffel moved forward from Bacău to Nikolayev-East in South Ukraine.

It was attacked two Yak-1 of 9 Fighter Air Regiment VVS Black Sea fleet (9-го истребительного авиационного полка ВВС Черноморского флота) near Nikolaev (Николаев) in the morning. In fight the crew lined one Yak-1 of the pilot V. Ivanov (В. Иванов) who made an emergency landing in the field. The pilot of second Yak-1 lieutenant Eugeny Wasiljewitch Petrenko (Евгений Васильевич Петренко) claimed a Do-215 in the area Weselij Kut (Веселый Кут). Do-215 made an emergency landing near the village Netchajannoe (Нечаянное). The crew was taken prisoner by local collective farmers.

Great details thank you so much , this what I was looking for . Is my understanding that the crew failed to return from Russian captivity.They were seen
at last at Nikolaev . Question is this the same Ml Lt.Petrenko missing in action on 8.6.1942 on Leningradskaya Obliasty ?

Larry, the case of Oblt. Jörg Schultze-Pletzius / Sevastopol is something not related , btw he was observer and not pilot though highest ranked airman on board . This case was the subject of long research at my end along with the family of the pilot who brought the DO-215 down Lt.Nikiforov of the Black Sea air regiment .

I posted that has an example to show that it was not 3.(F)/121 that was using (L2+ ) and flying Do 215s in S Russia in August 1941, but rather 3./Aufkl.Gr. Ob.d.L.

Oblt. Jörg S-P is listed because he was the only officer aboard in the pay grade of Oberleutnant or above regardless of his position in the crew (FF, Beobachter, etc.).

Colonel Eugeny Wasiljewitch Petrenko (Евгений Васильевич Петренко) (22.12.1918) is Hero of the Soviet Union (19.08.1944). I lived in the city Ленинград (Санкт-Петербург). I died 22.07.1976.

Thanks in that case the other Petrenko was not related, interesting that on the
same month and same location ( Prognoisk ) he claimed more airplanes which brings
me the question if 9 IAP was located in Aug 5,41 at Otchakov and if he flew YAK-1
or MIG-3 on that day.
