Re: Obfhr. Alfred Schenkelberg (JG54)
Hello Bart V.,
in Jagdfliegerverbände Vol. 13/V three claims and two losses of Obfhr Alfred Schenkelberg are listed: 9 Apr 1944 P-47 (1) 11.20 Pl.Qu. 15 Ost/TA 6-9 19 May 1944 P-38 (2) 13.18 southeast of Oschersleben 2 Jul 1944 Spitfire (3) 20.50 Pl.Qu. 15 Ost S/UT 1 19 May 1944 aerial combat area Wolfenbüttel, parachute jump, injured Fw 190 A-8 WNr. 730317 black 7, 100%. 17 July 1944 aerial combat La Trigale, missing Fw 190 A-8 WNr. 680832 white 7, 100% To the losses in the east in 1943: Jim has misread the documents: the pilot of 5./JG 52 was Uffz Otto Schicketanz. Re: Obfhr. Alfred Schenkelberg (JG54)
Thank you all already for responding! Excellent info.
I noticed his "Credit" list given by his CO (months after him going MIA) credits another victory (see photo if it succeeds, see no way to attach somethign) Edit: Seems no photos appear, the list mentions (his first) victory: 1.) 8.4.44 13,55 Uhr Boeing B 17 F II NW Salzwedel |

Hello,
Quote: "One known victory, a P-38 SE of Oschersleben on 19 May (1944)" No P-38 crash in that region reported that day. Overclaiming by Jg54 pilots. |

Re: Obfhr. Alfred Schenkelberg (JG54)
I also learned that he crashed together (although other plane but they crashed the same day at the same place) with his Staffel comrade Willibald Seifert. Both were shot down that day and both crashed at La Trigale in Normandy. Interesting.
Is there any info on who could have shot them down? |
