Vocalization of French AF Units
I asked this question before on another thread but received no reply, so I'll try again. How does one vocalize in French the name of an Armee de l'Air unit such as GC II/5? Is it "la deuxieme groupe de chasse de la cinquieme escadre" or what?
Merci beaucoup en avant, Tom |

Re: Vocalization of French AF Units
Hi,
You were right, Tom : GC II/5 means "le deuxième groupe de chasse de la cinquième escadre", but we vocalize it " GC deux cinq ". Each groupe de chasse had two escadrilles, first and second in the first groupe, third and fourth in the second, like in GC II/5, and fifth and sixth in the third groupe when they were created before the war.
