Lancaster Rudders

I've noticed that most have the egg-shaped tail with a curve to the bottom of the rudder, but I've seen some examples where the bottom of the rudder, near the tab, is not curved, but more of a straight angle.

Can anyone explain this please?

My schematics only show the egg-shaped tail.

Re: Lancaster Rudders

These are Lincoln rudders. They were fairly commonly fitted to postwar Lancasters. I'm not sure when the habit started.

Re: Lancaster Rudders

Great! Glad I asked this, as it could have led to a potential art mistake in the future.

Thanks mate.
