Hello.

I am hoping to use this site as a resource if you all would not mind. I am helping a family friend of mine do some research. I am helping the family go through some WWII stuff from a relative. He was in the Army in the ETO during WWII, in France and Belgium specifically.

He was an engineer that had occupied and repaired Axis airfields for Allied use ( I think he cites the 9th AF?). Among many, many objects that he brought back from the ETO, he has many photographs of the construction of American forward airbases, as well as many damaged Luftwaffe aircraft.

Some pictures are interesting (lucky I have dates on photos). Some show a mix of daylight and nightfighters, as well as bomber and transport aitcraft. Others are of American fighters, and light and heavy bombers. A good mix. Where I need your help is for identification of aircraft and or the units that they were a part of. I would like to know as much as I can with the info I can provide, and will need all the help I can get. Other than being in France and Belgium, not much as to location is known. All I have is dated pictures of aircraft at forward air bases in France/Belgium. I will try to upload some pictures ASAP. I truly thank anyone who may be able to help. And I hope I can contribute these photos for others to enjoy.
