Hi Brian

Khorat says in his NF losses this was in combat with Beaufighters at 15.00H.

There was a Beaufort/Beaufighter strike at appx that time which was cancelled, but before everyone could react two Beaufort stragglers were still in the attack area and by chance came upon three Ju 88C of I./NJG 2 where Heinz Rökker shot down one of them. The other Beaufort claimed one Ju 88C in return. However none of these 88s were reported as lost. (see Malta, The Spitfire Year)

Rökker and his two comrades were on their way from Catania to Kalamaki, Greece, while "your" 88 is roughly on the way in the other direction. Could he by accident have been at the right place in the wrong moment (for him)?

No idea, but strange things happened during the Med air war..
Neither do I know from where Michael has got his "combat with Beaufighters" in his book.

This Ju88 was lost during a cover flight for Ju52 , it disepeared after fight with Beaufighters, some others claimed a Maryland , no Ju52 were lost that day, he probably find his last way i. "Bach" .
On 10 july he already forcedlanded due to motor troubles, but at that time was fished on time

Thanks Michael/Remi

The strange thing is that nobody so far lists any claim from a Beaufighter. If Brian Cull reads this he might have a clue in such a case.
Maybe we will get more details from the British side in the new book by Shores, but he does not list anything that I can find in his published works...

Cheers
Stig
