Re: Need help for translation

Franck,

the German handwriting reads:
"In Miegge(?) abgestürtzer deutsch. Jäger Me 109"

in English:
"At Miegge(?) crashed german fighter Me 109"

I don't know if i deciphered the name of the location right. It can also read "Miezze".

Best Regards
Norbert

Does this help :-)

Re: Need help for translation

@ RolandF,

thanks, well done! Nieppe sounds more reasonable (a city in France, region Nord-Pas-de-Calais).

Re: Need help for translation

Thanks both of you.

Nieppe, I agree. Perfect and clean Sütterlin.

However, this resolves nothing for May 1940 100% Losses, "North West of Lille"
I found nothing with that name, neither for Armentières, infortunately.

No one clue! WNr.2315 is OKAY but no pilot and no unit.

Regards, Franck.

Re: Need help for translation

WNr 2315 - is this a Bf 109D-1 variant?
Shouldn´t be any more in active service in May´40.
A secondary unit might be the reason for this gap.

Regards

Roland

Re: Need help for translation

... Or 2515 or 2815. I don't know, nothing to be sure.
The link I gave is not reachable anymore.

Here is the photo:
Note that I wrote D-1, so far; but since it seems there is a big mixture between D-1 and E, I thought there was a hint down there.

Now, any loss in Nieppe/Armantières, including "secondary unit"?

Best regards. Thanks Roland, you're always the most welcome.
