Re: AR234

Both entries reproduced from "Arado Ar234 Blitz" by Smith & Creek [Monogram, 1992]

WNr.140344 - NM+BR, first flew Nov 25th 1944 to Kommando Hecht and later Kommando Sommer as T9+EH. Flown by Oblt.Sommer and fitted with a Magirusbombe gun pack. Written off after Sommer attempted a main-wheels up landing at Udine on Apr 16th 1945

WNr.140154 - SM+FN - to Kdo Sperling as T9+IH, flown by Oblt.Sommer, to Kdo Hecht, destroyed December 24th 1944.

cheers

Re: AR234

The first Ar 234 Sonderkommando was Götz, commanded by Horst Götz and including Eric Sommer. This flew over Normandy in August 1944. In September the unit was expanded and changed its name to Sperling, Götz was still the commander. However in November a new Sonderkommando known as Hecht was set up at Biblis. It was commanded by Sommer (who was the only pilot). In January 1945 Hecht was supposed to merge with 1.(F)/100. The next stage was drawn out, but by middle of March Eric Sommer was the commander of Sonderkommando Sommer in Italy.

Don't know but there is considerable decrypted message traffic about Sommer's flights from Biblis and no other aircraft or pilot is mentioned with Hecht IIRC.
