Lichtenstein in Bf 110 of NJG1
Hello everybody,
Could anybody inform me if the Lichtenstein radar equipment was already fitted in the Bf 110's of NJG1 in the beginning of March 1942. Tia, paul |

You should post this to the Luftwaffe forum.

Nothing terrible about it, only inefficient in terms of potential response

Re: Lichtenstein in Bf 110 of NJG1
Hi, this is what I found at Gebhard Aders "Die Geschichte der deutschen Nachtjagd" (translated from German, so maybe not quite proper...):
"Until the FuG 202 Lichtenstein B/C was really operational, several months should pass. In November [1941] the Technisches Amt of the RLM promised a first rate of 40 sets, the demand of the XII. Fliegerkorps should be fulfilled until 1. April 1942.... The lack of design engineers and skilled workers at Telefunken as well as supply shortfalls at the sub contractors upset any time limits. In the end of 1941 Kammhuber hoped 14 Bf 110 to be equipped with the FuG 202. In January it was said, that the first delivery would be finished only until end of August 1942, because only the place for conversion in Diepensee was available. It then lasted until February 1942 until the first four sets were installed in planes of the II./NJG 1, further weeks went by until the planes were ready for action...." So, according to this, in March 1942 there were 4 Bf 110 with Lichtenstein, however not active. Regards Robert |

Re: Lichtenstein in Bf 110 of NJG1
Hello Robert,
thank you very much for your comprehensive reply. From your answer I may conclude that my Bf 110 did not carry a Lichtenstein at that time. paul |
