P-38 loadout
dose anybody know anything about the P-38 having a loadout of 2 x2000lbs bombs and a torpedo? If you have pic of this please share.

and the torp only in tests, so far as I know. |

I have the Flight Manual which covers the models RP-38D, RP-38E, P-38F, P-38G, F-4 & F-5
In the armanent section they list Torpedo = none. The only bomb weight given is the 1100 pounder. The switch for dropping the bombs is the same one used for jettisoning drop tanks so either bombs or tanks could be carried, not both at the same time. |

SO, is it saying that it can carry one 1100 lbs. bomb? Which modle would that go to.

Following web-site photo shows F-model (?) P-38, carrying two dummy 21-inch torpedoes for demonstration purposes.
