Gliders tactical codes
Hi!
Has any author been able to sort out the nightmare of the LW gliders tactical codes? I have a Go 242 coded LK+2-12 and absolutely no idea which unit it belonged to. If there's a book on this specific subject, I'd appreciate to have its title. Thanks. Chris |

Re: Gliders tactical codes
Barry Rosch attempted to make some sense of it in his "Luftwaffe Codes, Markings and Units 1939-45" but even he conceded that much of what he wrote was speculation based around a limited amount of surviving photos and documentation.
With regards your code: LK = Unknown unit 2 = Staffel 2 12 = Individual glider number He also has a Go242 coded LK+2-9 Cheers Peter D Evans LEMB Administrator |

Re: Gliders tactical codes
Thanks Peter.
I guess these units are not so "glamorous" as the fighter units. Chris |
