Loss of Bf110 +FZ WNr.931?

At eBay here there is a crashed Bf110 with what appears to be a __+FZ code and WNr.931...Are there any other details known about this?

Ian

Re: Loss of Bf110 +EZ WNr.931?

Ian,

Its a Bf110B with probably a SKZ factory code. Definitely NOT Polish Campaign. Could be a training unit. No other info at present.

Regards,

Re: Loss of Bf110 +EZ WNr.931?

As I posted over on the LEMB, I have this as a Bf110B-1, WNr.931 coded NA+FZ possibly of Zerstörerschule, Zerstörerschule 2 or Nachtjagdschule 1

Cheers

Many thanks indeed Jim... I've taken the liberty to add the details for WNr.931 to the LEMB thread

Re: Loss of Bf110 +FZ WNr.931?

No problem Peter. The 25 cent question, I guess, is the photo one of the reported losses? If so, which one? I remember a comment by Peter Rodeike (I think) from the, sadly defunct, 'LW Verbande' to the effect about the number of Schulen crack-up photos that don't appear to have a corresponding entry in that set of loss reports. I guess that bit of detective work is left to us.

Re: Loss of Bf110 +FZ WNr.931?

Two 25% loss reports, well I guess that means that we have 50% chance of getting it right! I tend to think that since we have this type of photo it is slightly more likely to be from an earlier stage in the war than later. But neither photo can be ruled out. The children are wearing winter cloths, but both events took place during the winter so no help there. Unfortunately without further photos or other clear evidence it could be either event. But at least we have some answers..thanks

Re: Loss of Bf110 +FZ WNr.931?

Dear all,

Jim has already provided the info that was in my database too, but the hills at the near horizon can most likely not be linked with the location 'Bermaringen' nor 'Schleissheim' so the picture might refer to another incident which could have been recorded under a wrong Werkenummer.

That's no suggestion on my part, just a possible option arisen with other clerical errors found in the last 20 years...

All the best, Marcel / Venlo

Pretty strange these accidents with the same Bf110, to add that the Bf110, was not an easy plane to forcedlanded...
