Re: some planes lost over Kronstadt september 1941

Claude,

Regarding your Bf 109 WNr. 3639, there may be a problem with either your list or mine. In my database it is listed as being:

E-7, 3639, 22+, NC+DX, 3./JG 106, Fw. Karl-Heinz Zimmermann, WIA/LK US Bombers, 44/01/29, nr. Frankfurt

My source for this information is listed as being this forum on 11/11/01, and a note indicates this may be the last “E” combat loss with the USAAF?

Re: some planes lost over Kronstadt september 1941

According to JFV teil 6/ I on the 21Sep41 in the area of Kronstadt 9./JG 27 lost two (100%) in an air battle with I-153.
Bf 109 E-4 (3639) ge. 2 + Lt. Joachim Hinkelmann
Bf 109 E-7 (1499) ge. 10 + Uffz Ewald Hacker

Stab/JG 27 Obfw Erwin Sawalisch shot down two I-153 (possibly the two I-153 from 71 IAP KBF who claimed 2 Bf 109) in the Leningrad area about the same time.
