P-47D s/n 42-26063 50th FG, 81st FS lost on 15.10.44

Hello,

I'm looking for info about fate of 2nd Lt Gerald V. Conlan, which landed in Switzerland. Why did he headed to Switzerland? Did he encountered any German fighters during that flight?
I know this story from “Strangers in a Strange Land vol II: Escape to Neutrality” but there is a nothing about earlier part of this mission (target, etc.). I can't find MACR number also.

Thank you for your response, but I know this thread. Given MACR numbers reefers to another aircrafts and further info comes from above mentioned book. So my knowledge still stuck in dead point.

http://www.warbird.ch/contento/default.aspx?tabid=764 says all about the circumstances:

bye, nice weekend,
FrankieS

Yes, I know this too. It's totally differed account than given in" SoL vol. II" written by the same author!
By the way, on annual report submitted by the Commander of Swiss Air Force for 1944 this P-47 was described as shoot down by Flab, but on Summary Report which covers whole war period I can read that a/c was shoot down by Swiss fighters!
